Does it Help You Lose Weight?
It depends.
The true answer is no it doesn't. But if you're not drinking enough then yes it can.
Water will not speed up your metabolism or help your body burn fat. Drinking more of it than you need, fasting with it, or adding lemon will not result in fat loss. Water is there to bath your cells and to flush out metabolic wastes among many other things. You need enough of it for your body to function optimally.
That means that if you are chronically dehydrated then you will not be burning as much fat as you could be or even should be throughout the day. And it's not just fat metabolism that's affected it's everything else in your body too from the way your skin and hair look to how efficient your kidneys are.
Drinking enough water doesn't mean drowning yourself in it. The recommendation is about 8 glasses per day but many people are ok with 5 or less. It all depends upon your water needs. You'll need more if you are in a dry environment, exercise, sweat, are bigger, eat too much salt etc.
If you hate water then find a way of making it taste good without adding any sugar.
Water won't speed up weight loss but having enough is important and necessary to make sure you are burning the maximum amount each day.
