Unless You Eat 20 Per Day or so ...
I've been reading a lot of articles online about how bad potatoes are. Many of them make them out to be this evil food that is as bad as a 5 year old's halloween bag.
They say that because it apparently ranks moderately high on the glycemic index. A boiled potato ranks about as high as a danish pasty or a pound cake which makes no sense whatsoever. That means that according to these people it's better to eat pound cake than potato for your carb calories?? Now I like what the glycemic index has contributed to health and weight loss (that sugar spikes insulin which makes us gain weight) but in my opinion it is not an exact science.
Articles like those stated above get on the net and then many sites copy them and soon the google search results have plenty of 'negative' pages on potatoes which make many people believe that since there are so many 'different' people saying potatoes are bad then they must be. Not true.
Potatoes have had a difficult time in the diet world even before the internet was here. But it really is just a starchy carb like any other. Eat too much and you get fat. One large baked potato has a mere 278 calories. If you have one for dinner you'll be fine. Dare I say you can even put a bit of butter or sour cream on it!! Just try to put the minimum amount you really need to.
When trying to lose weight focus on the 'big picture'. Be consitent with your good eating and exercise and focus on creating habits.
