CHAPTER 7 Hormones and Weight Loss Hormones - The most powerful and yet tiniest things in our bodies. Hormones and Weight Loss is a strong topic these days. Hormones are so incredibly powerful that just a slight change in one of them can bring DRAMATIC changes in our bodies. - It's why bodybuilders take steriods, why farmers inject thier animals with them and why teenagers are freakin nuts Some of us have skinny bodies and can eat whatever we want and some of us have the opposite, a body that gains weight eating ice cubes. The reason: our hormone levels are all different. That's really what it is. "So the solution would be to manipulate our hormone levels right?" Yes, it is ... but NAURALLY!!!! We can alter them in natural ways. Before I tell you how, if you suspect anything, check with your doctor. There are all sorts of reasons why the body's hormones would be out of balance and if you have a medical condition like diabetes, PCOS or hypothyroidism and you try all of my great suggestions here (wink) and they don't work for you, you'll be frustrated and depressed for nothing because really you had no chance to begin with. The power of hormones is huge and doing all these great things combined with "using the force" won't help if you have a pre-existing condition. So how do we do it? There are many ways but the 2 most effective would be: 1- Eat little or no simple sugars - things like soda, cake, candy, anything with syrups, anything sweetened, white flour products, etc... Simple sugars raise your insulin levels ALOT and when insulin is high, fat gain is also high. A consistent proper diet will keep insulin levels low and allow fat to be utilized as energy. 2- Do some light cardio such as walking or biking in the morning before breakfast. At this time, insulin levels are low and almost ALL the energy you use will come from fat. Also, some moderate intensity weight training work in the gym (about 12 repetitions per set) for about 35 minutes is optimal for increasing your Growth Hormone levels and growth hormone makes you lean baby! Both of these, done long-term give results because: In order for a ANYTHING (exercise) to work in the LONG-RUN it MUST satisfy 2 criteria: 1- It must be a diet/exercise that is healthy for you. 2- It must be a diet/exercise that can be reasonably sustained for the REST of YOUR LIFE! Don't forget this! OK, lets summarize everything on the next page.
