Can You Enjoy Peanut Butter with Less Sugar?
This concept could really help you out in losing AND keeping weight off. Simply dilute your food while eating the same amounts or more.
An example would be adding some water to your glass of juice. Instead of a full glass you pour 3/4 of a glass with juice and 1/4 with water. This way you are drinking the same amount of liquid but with 1/4 less sugars from the juice. Now juice is generally healthy but only in small amounts. If you like to drink lots and lots of fruit juice then you will also be taking in lots of sugar with it. Diluting it will make it healthier and less likely to be stored as fat.
Obviously it won't taste as good .... AT FIRST! If you do it slowly and gradually your taste buds will eventually get used to having more water in your glass of juice and you will enjoy it just as much. Again the key is to start slowly. Try 95% juice and only 5% water. As you get used to this you then adjust by another 5% and so on until you are at 50-50 or even less. I am now at 25% juice and still enjoying it fine.
As long as you enjoy what you are eating and drinking then change is easy. The end result will be that you are having just as much enjoyment but with half or less the sugar which will help you lose weight, stay healthy and save money. It takes no time or effort at all to try.
Another example is peanut butter. I love the stuff and can't get enough. The problem is that it is high in fat and sugar and is almost like a dessert really. But I have managed to find a way to eat lots of it everyday by switching to natural peanut butter. The natural stuff has some fat from the peanut oil and no sugar at all. The regular stuff has the peanut oil and added hydrogenated vegetable oil and sugar, salt and in some cases icing sugar too!! Switching cold turkey is hard but what I did was add some jam to the natural PB to make it taste good. Slowly over time I reduced the amount of jam needed and now use only a small spoon full and absolutely LOVE it. As a matter of fact I tried the regular PB a few weeks ago and really didn't like it anymore.
So those are 2 examples of how you can lower the sugar, salt, fat content of foods to make them healthier for you and to make them conductive to weight loss. Apply the principal to other foods and you'll soon have changed the composition of what you put into your body without suffering.
***Note - See if you can enjoy toast just as much with less butter that you are used to, or jam, or less butter on popcorn, less salt on foods, less sugar in coffee and in baked goods etc...
